You And Your Dentist Make A Great Team!
Your San Diego dentist can make a big difference in your overall health – if you will let her. But we can’t help you if you don’t schedule and appointment and show up as agreed. And you can do a lot at home between visits to ensure improving – rather than declining – oral and dental health.
That’s why we say that you and your dentist make a great team.
This week on social media, we talked about:
· Necessary scaling – or removal of hardened plaque called tartar – from your teeth at and below the gum line. This procedure is part of great overall oral health and needs to be performed by your San Diego dentist every 6 months – or as often as she says it does based on your unique oral health circumstances.
· How people used charcoal, chalk, ash and other substances to clean their teeth before commercial toothpaste was available – and of course, you still can if that’s what you really want to do. (We don’t recommend it.)
· How your teeth are as unique as your fingerprint and can even be used for identification.
· Why mouth guards are necessary when playing many sports, not just a few. Young or old, your teeth need the protection that a mouth guard can provide.
But perhaps the most important thing we talked about is how you and your dentist work together toward good oral health. In fact, if we could share only one message in the future, that would surely be it. Nothing is more important for you to understand than your role in making certain your dental and oral health is as good as possible.
At Brighton Dental, we’re on your side. We’re on your team. And we try to be the most powerful, friendly and accommodating ally ever.
