Smiling Is Good For Your Health
Did you know that when you’re in a bad mood, the easiest way to boost it is to smile? If the smile is genuine and not fake or forced, it can actually improve your mood, according to research. But when you have failing, ugly or damaged teeth, you may smile less – and enjoy life less too.
While we discussed a few different things on social media this week, there was a clear theme: smiling. We think it’s a good thing, and there are real reasons why smiling is smart. They include these:
Smiling gives your immune system a boost. When you smile, you relax. And that makes you not just feel better but experience a stronger immune system as well.
Smiles really are contagious. Scientific studies have proven that your smile can help make other smiles. One study from Sweden found that people don’t want to frown when confronted with someone smiling – instead, a smile in the face of someone else’s smile is the most natural thing in the world.
Around the world, smiles signify happiness. Things like handshakes, bows and hugs mean different things in different cultures, but everyone recognizes the friendliness and happiness of a smile.
We smile at work. When we have good teeth, we even smile at work – although we usually do it less than at home. If you like your job, it’s something to smile about. If not, well, you just have to laugh, don’t you?
If you find it hard to smile because your teeth need work, we’re the San Diego holistic dental team who can help you look better – and feel better about yourself.
After all, babies are born knowing how to smile. And smiling is something you should be proud to do throughout your life. We can help you have a smile you’ll want to show off.
