FAIs Holistic Dentistry More Expensive in San Diego CA Area

Finding a good dentist in San Diego, California, can be tricky, especially if you want to avoid dental care like amalgam fillings and metal crowns. While scouring the internet for alternative dentistry options, holistic dentistry might have popped up. Holistic dental care goes by many names, including natural and biological dentistry. This dentistry offers services similar to traditional dental care, but the approach differs.

Brighton Dental is proud to offer holistic dentistry in San Diego, California, and the surrounding cities. Dr. Paige Woods and her team treat you as a whole, not just a set of teeth. The goal is to promote overall health with long-term prevention rather than quick, short-term fixes.

What are the principles of holistic dentistry?

Holistic dentists use several materials and techniques to promote your overall health. The following is what sets us apart from conventional dentists.

  • Biocompatible materials: We are mindful of the materials we use to treat your oral issues. Our office only uses “tissue-friendly” or biocompatible materials to avoid causing further harm to your body. So, we’ll never use amalgams or metal restorations. Instead, we opt for body-safe materials like composites and porcelain. We also use natural treatments like ozone therapy, avoiding chemicals that can harm your body.
  • Whole-body approach: We treat the whole person, not just their teeth and gums. This approach emphasizes the interconnectedness of dental health and overall wellness, recognizing that dental issues can have broader systemic effects. We safeguard the mouth-body connection because we understand problems like periodontal disease can cause systematic illnesses like heart disease, diabetes, pregnancy complications, etc.
  • Proactive dentistry: Although we diagnose and treat dental issues, we focus on preventive dental care. We believe dentistry shouldn’t be about fire fighting—we are proactive in preventing oral problems rather than waiting for them to occur. We educate our patients on nutrition, stress management, and other lifestyle factors to prevent oral issues for optimal well-being.

Holistic dentistry isn’t just about the materials we use but also about the philosophy behind it. We take a more natural and patient-centered approach to dental care. We look at your mouth as an integral component of your body, so we address the root cause of your oral problems, not just the symptoms.

Is holistic dentistry more expensive?

This is not an entirely accurate fact. Holistic dentists follow different principles from mainstream dentistry, and the results can be more or less costly. At times, there may be no noticeable difference in cost. However, holistic dentistry is cheaper in the long run. Since we treat the root cause of the problem, you are less likely to spend more to treat the same problem.

For example, rather than fix your cavity, Dr. Woods will try to understand why you have tooth decay and recommend good oral hygiene and dietary changes to prevent the problem. Sometimes, we can recommend natural supplements to address your problem for good.

Is there a natural dentist near me?

Not many dental offices provide holistic dentistry, but San Diego residents are fortunate to access this specialized care at Brighton Dental. Our holistic approach integrates the latest advancements in dental technology with a whole-body approach to achieve optimal oral and overall wellness. If you’d like to take advantage of our holistic dentistry, call (619) 831-8559.
